Weekend Recap

I feel like I didn't get much of a weekend, because I worked most of the day on Saturday. However, I did still have some good opportunity for fun, family, and friends this weekend, so it wasn't a total loss. :-)

On Friday, I came home to Jeromy putting together Linnea's big girl bed. He had picked up the mattress that day (he had the day off), and was determined to get the transition going - especially since we had been talking about it for such a long time.

So Linnea and I ran out while he put together the bed to get bed rails (she is SUCH a crazy sleeper) and a mattress pad and protector. By the time we got home it was time for dinner, bath, and bed! I have been nervous about this transition for WEEKS, but it went okay. Linnea was super excited about her bed, and even more excited about her Frozen sheets. That helped in making the transition successful.

Jeromy headed over to the neighbors to hang out while I put Linnea to bed, without too much of a fight beyond the ordinary. Lately she chats, sings, and reads for a LONG time before she falls asleep. It doesn't seem to matter when we put her down, it takes her about the same time. Also, as she continues to potty train for overnight, she generally needs to go to the bathroom an additional time before she falls asleep. So it was much of the same, and a couple potty overnights - but a successful overall. The trend seemed to continue for the most part the rest of the weekend.

Someone was QUITE excited to sleep in her big girl bed...

Sleeping Beauty after a successful night's sleep!

Linnea had been awake in the night enough that I think she was pretty tired...so we ended up waking her up around 8:00. It was a bummer, because I had to leave at 8:30 for work, so by the time she was up, we just had a few minutes together before it was time to go.

Work was pretty good, all things considered. It's nice when it's quiet, because I feel like I can get a lot done. The time went pretty fast. When I got home, Linnea was still sleeping (Jeromy said she did good in her big girl bed, it just took a while for her to fall asleep - probably cause she slept so late). She was SO happy when she woke up - excited to tell me about what she did with Daddy while I was gone. She was even MORE excited when I told her that we were going to a restaurant with Grandma and Grandpa.

We had originally planned to have an adult dinner for my birthday, but with making the transition to a big girl, we didn't want to leave Linnea with a babysitter. So we did a whole family dinner, and had an awesome time.

We went to Redstone in Eden Prairie - one of our favorites. It was wonderful. Great conversation. Wonderful food. Linnea was SO well behaved, and polite - makes a mama proud (and dinner a lot more enjoyable!). It helped that Grandma had a "bag of tricks" with her - a new book to read and a matching game. We didn't even need our "bag of tricks."

Linnea ATTACKED my birthday cake. The rest of us had to eat fast before she ate it all!

By the time we got home, it was time for bed for Linnea. Linnea went down pretty well, and then Jeromy and I watched a movie - Monuments Men. We both agreed that it was okay. The story was interesting (I didn't even know that story previously), but it just wasn't as good as it could have been. Jeromy explained it well when he said it felt like they just mailed it in. A good story, but just an okay movie.

On Sunday, we headed down to Red Wing for our much anticipated "Kensington Reunion." In the year after college, Jeromy and 3 of our really good guy friends lived together in a house that we lovingly called the Kensington Royale. In the 8 years since they've lived together, everyone is now married, with at least one kid.

One of the families - Marshall, Christy, and their boys Everett and Ian - have lived in Madison. But recently, a job change brought them closer to home...Red Wing! They invited the other families to their new house for the day. We headed down a little early so that we could stop for a few geocaches.

We all got there about 11:30. The kids played. We had a BBQ lunch. We put the kids down for naps. We chatted and made up for last time. Much too soon, it was time to head home. Since we didn't leave until dinner time, we stopped with another family for a quick bite at Subway. We got home in time for a very quick bath and bed time for Linnea.

Such a great group of wonderful friends!

So it was a short weekend...but it turned out to be great!
